Meet Cedric Bafundisa
— a fashion icon, creative & lead stylist for Exodos. He is currently located in Montreal, Quebec. While growing up, Cedric was inspired by his mother’s passion for designing clothes and skillfulness in sewing.
He fell in love with the blending of colours and assortment of fabrics, and knew from then that we wanted to be the mastermind behind outfits that would come alive through personal styling.
As Bafundisa matured and worked to perfect his craft, his passion ignited when he discovered the world of bridal fashion and wedding styling. Cedric holds the ideals of marriage dear to his heart, and considers it a humbling experience to be able to offer his keen eye to intricate details on a couple’s special day.
For Bafundisa, styling is more than the clothing— it is an outlet to allow individuals to make their own unique statement of beauty and self image.
Meet Motaniel Ngina
— a Congolese fashion influencer, entrepreneur & founder of ‘Exodos’, a styling agency. Ngina is a man of many crafts, and while he enjoys personal styling and often wears the hat of a creative director, ‘Exodus’ was birthed from his passion for wedding fashion & styling. The westernized culture and trends of the wedding fashion industry has inspired him to redefine wedding fashion, particularly for black men. After discovering this niche, Motaniel now specializes in wedding fashion for grooms/groomsmen, and is rapidly expanding his services to brides and the extended bridal party.
Throughout his work in wedding styling, Ngina noticed that from styling engagement shoots to wedding ceremonies — whether it be traditionally African or the customary westernized wedding —- soon-to-be brides are pampered and tended to by hairstylists, makeup artists, and manicurists, etc. Throughout the excitement and planning of a couple’s big day, Ngina has found that male members of the bridal party are generally not provided a similar royal treatment. With ‘Exodus’, Motaniel provides his signature “On-Site Grooming Styling” service, where he is present at the desired location on the day of the wedding. Great attention to detail is given to the groom and his groomsmen as they are styled accordingly. By the end of the service, each man is styled and prepared to feel like a king.
Ngina takes pride in knowing that his Congolese roots have curved his path and sharpened his eye for fashion. The Congolese community has contributed to countless opportunities that has allowed him to step outside of his comfort zone and create a platform that is unique, relatable and attracts individuals of various demographics and cultural backgrounds. This level of versatility is key as he continues to work diligently to inspire the next generation. Through various collaborative projects and his styling agency, Motaniel’s greatest desire is for young men and women to believe that despite the barriers that they face, narratives can be changed and stories can be rewritten, starting with defining their own authentic style.
Motaniel aspires to continue his quest to become an ‘International Fashion Stylist’. His accomplishments and aspirations prove that it is more than being fuelled by passion that allows one to grow so masterfully in their craft. He believes that with determination and a continued zest for learning, new dimensions of anything you love will be unlocked. Through his efforts, he hopes to continue to inspire young black men and women to dream unapologetically, work hard, and write their own story.
